SMT THT SMA SMP Coaxial PCB Connector
There are two type of PCB Connector, SMT, Surface Mount Technology and THT, Through Hole Technology. They have their advantages and disavantages.
SMT Surface Mount Connector can be mounted directly onto the Surface of PCB, so it allow for higher component density and the assembly process can be faster which lead to increase production effiency, however, it's not as robust as Through Hole Connector, which directly insert into drilled holes of PCB.
While THT Through Hole PCB Connector has robustness advantage, it has disvantages, there is gap between PCB and Connector, which cause impedance match issue, thus THT PCB connector nornally use for low frequency application.
SMT Connector pin type
There are two type of SMT Connector pin type, Round Post pin and Flat Tab pin, Round Post pin has larger pin than Flat Tab pin, and has more influence on impedance discontinuity after soldering, the Round post pin diameter is normally 0.4 mm.
